These delicious Swedish meatballs are a great winter warmer menu item if you're looking for something to whack on the specials board. Easily served as a dish with a side of mash or boxed up for the lunchtime takeaway trade.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/3 C butter
  • 1/4 C plain flour
  • 1 C beef broth
  • 1 C thickened cream
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

METHOD

  1. In a fry pan, cook the meatballs according to the instructions on the pack. Add 1 tbsp of butter during cooking to enhance the flavour. Once cooked, remove meatballs from pan and leave juices.
  2. Add 1/3 butter to pan and melt. Whisk in flour until it dissolves and turns brown.
  3. Pour in beef broth, cream, soy sauce and Dijon mustard. Bring to a simmer and season with salt and pepper. Stir until thickened.
  4. Once thickened, place meatballs back in the sauce for 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and serve over a bed of mash potato and a side of ligenberry jam.
