frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between beef burgers and Lamb burgers?

Angel Bay Premium Lamb Burger Patties are made from premium New Zealand lamb and stand out with a richer, slightly sweeter flavour that feels a bit more full‑bodied and aromatic. Lamb’s flavour works especially well with Mediterranean or Middle Eastern spices and herbs, or toppings like tzatziki, feta and fresh greens.

Angel Bay beef burgers are made with quality New Zealand beef and have that classic, hearty, beefy flavour that works beautifully with all your favourite toppings and sauces. They’re versatile and pair well with smoky, savoury or bold BBQ flavours.

Both cook up juicy and delicious from frozen, but lamb gives you a tasty twist on the classic beef burger if you’re after something a little different for your next BBQ or dinner night.

Are Lamb patties healthy?

Angel Bay Premium Lamb Burger Patties are made from 100% New Zealand lamb, giving you a tasty source of high‑quality protein that helps support muscle, energy and overall wellbeing. One 120 g serve has about 275 calories and around 19 g of protein, with nutrients you’d expect from real lamb.

Lamb itself is naturally rich in complete protein, plus important minerals like iron and zinc that help with energy and immune health.

Like all red meats, lamb does contain fat, so it fits best in moderation as part of a balanced diet. Pair lamb patties with fresh salad, wholegrain buns or lighter sauces to keep meals balanced and satisfying.

For exact calories and nutrition details, always check the nutrition panel on the pack, that’s your best guide for portion‑by‑portion info.

Can you cook Lamb burgers from frozen?
Yes, Angel Bay Lamb burgers are designed to cook straight from frozen. Remove from packaging, cook using your chosen method, and always ensure the centre reaches 75°C (piping hot) before serving.
How long do Lamb patties take to cook?

Because Angel Bay Lamb patties are part-cooked, they’re quick and easy to prepare. From frozen:

  • Pan/BBQ: about 14–15 minutes, turning every 3–4 minutes
  • Oven (200°C): about 16–18 minutes, turning partway
  • Microwave (1000W): 1:30 per side, then rest 1–2 minutes

Always cook until the centre is 75°C.

Why are Angel Bay Lamb patties part-cooked?
Part-cooking helps Lamb patties cook faster, stay juicy, and hold their shape with minimal shrinkage. It also makes results more consistent whether you cook them in a pan, oven, BBQ, or air fryer.
What goes well with Lamb burgers?
Lamb burgers love bold, fresh flavours. Try toppings like feta, tzatziki, tomato, red onion, rocket, beetroot relish, mint yoghurt, or hummus. They’re especially good with Mediterranean or Middle Eastern style sides.
How long can you store Lamb patties in the freezer?
Keep Angel Bay Lamb patties frozen at -18°C and use them by the best-before date on pack. Leaving them sealed and frozen solid helps protect flavour and texture.
Do Lamb burgers shrink when cooked?
Angel Bay Lamb burgers have minimal shrinkage compared to many raw patties because they’re part-cooked before freezing. That means they hold their size better and fit your bun nicely.
Are Lamb patties gluten-free?
Angel Bay Lamb patties contain breadcrumbs as part of the recipe, so they’re not gluten-free. Always check the packaging for the full ingredient and allergen list if you’re buying for specific dietary needs. If you are looking for a gluten-free option  try our Premium Gluten Free Beef Patties.
What meals can you make with Lamb patties besides burgers?
Lamb patties are a versatile protein source for meals like gyro wraps or pita pockets, lamb salad bowls with roasted veg and tahini, spiced lamb tacos, or a comforting plate with mash, gravy, and greens. Check out our recipes for meal inspiration.
