Welcome to the Real Life Restaurant

The Real Life Restaurant by Angel Bay celebrates the way everyday life really happens. Plans change, dinner gets improvised, and somehow it all comes together.

Inspired by the way Kiwis really cook and eat at home, we started by researching the ingredients most commonly found in Kiwi fridges and transformed those everyday favourites into a menu worth sharing.

Working alongside home cook Jana MacPherson, we took the ingredients Kiwi families already have on hand and created five creative, achievable burgers that prove delicious meals don't need complicated recipes or a long shopping list.

The restaurant may have been a limited-time experience, but the menu doesn't have to be. Now you can recreate every dish at home using Angel Bay patties and the everyday ingredients already sitting in your fridge.

Because real life deserves real meals.

Every burger on the Real Life Restaurant menu started with a simple question:

What's already in your fridge?

Whether it's sriracha mayo, maple syrup, pickles, leftover slaw or your favourite burger sauce, these recipes celebrate the everyday ingredients that often get forgotten at the back of the fridge.

Combined with Angel Bay patties, they become burgers that are full of flavour, easy to make and perfect for sharing around the dinner table.

It's proof that great meals don't need to be complicated. Sometimes they're already sitting in your fridge.

Behind the menu

 

When Angel Bay set out to create the Real Life Restaurant, we partnered with home cook Jana McPherson to bring the concept to life.

Inspired by the ingredients most commonly found in Kiwi fridges, Jana created five creative, achievable recipes that celebrate the way Kiwis really cook. Every recipe starts with an Angel Bay product and builds on the sauces, condiments, left overs and everyday staples already sitting in your fridge.

Across the menu, Jana uses Angel Bay Gourmet Beef Patties for comforting classics, Premium Angus Beef Patties for bold flavour combinations, Gourmet Beef & Cheese Patties for an easy family favourite, and Gourmet Breakfast Patties to turn breakfast for dinner into something worth looking forward to.

The result is a menu that's full of flavour, easy to recreate and designed for the beautifully imperfect moments that bring us together around the dinner table.

What is Real Life Restaurant by Angel Bay?

Real Life Restaurant is a limited time only dining experience by Angel Bay, celebrating the wonderfully imperfect way Kiwis cook, eat and gather around the table. Inspired by the everyday ingredients found in Kiwi fridges and pantries, we've transformed familiar favourites into a unique restaurant menu.

How do I book a table?

Simply complete the request your table form on this page. Requesting a table lets us know you're interested in attending, but it doesn't guarantee a booking.
Are children allowed to attend?

Yes! Children are welcome to attend. If you're planning to bring children, please include them in your registration so we can ensure we have enough seats and can cater for everyone in your group. We want The Real Life Restaurant to celebrate the way Kiwi families really come together around the dinner table.
Is my booking confirmed once I've requested a table?

No. Requests are expressions of interest only. We'll contact successful guests by phone to confirm your booking, followed by an email with all the confirmation details.
Why are registrations expressions of interest rather than first in, first served?

Real Life Restaurant by Angel Bay has very limited capacity, so registrations help us understand demand before confirming bookings. This approach allows us to create the best possible experience while giving as many people as possible a fair opportunity to attend.
Can I register more than once?

Please only register once. Multiple registrations won't increase your chances of receiving a booking and may be removed during the review process.
I've requested a table. When will I hear if I've been successful?

We'll respond within 24 hours during business hours. Messages received over the weekend will be responded to on Monday.
I've requested a table but haven't received a confirmation email.

If you've just completed the form, don't worry, we'll be in touch once we've reviewed all requests. If you haven't received anything within 48 hours, please check your junk or spam folder before contacting us.
What time is the dinner?

Dinner service is available between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Guests will be allocated a 15-minute arrival window to ensure a smooth and staggered dining experience.
Where is Real Life Restaurant?
The venue address will be included in your confirmation email.
Can I add another guest to my booking?

If you'd like to add another person after your booking has been confirmed, please get in touch using the contact details in your confirmation email. We'll do our best to help, but additional places can't be guaranteed due to limited capacity.
Can I transfer my booking to someone else?
If your booked group can no longer attend, please contact us before the event and we'll advise whether this is possible.
Can I choose who I sit with?
We'll do our best to seat groups together where they're included on the same registration. Due to the nature of the event, we can't guarantee specific seating requests.
Why is Real Life Restaurant only in Auckland?

This first Real Life Restaurant by Angel Bay is being held in Auckland. It was the best location for us to bring the experience to life.
Will Real Life Restaurant come to other parts of New Zealand?

Not at this stage. This is currently planned as a one-off experience.
Can I recreate these burgers at home?

Absolutely. That's the whole idea! We'll be sharing the recipes after the event so you can recreate your own Real Life Restaurant at home using Angel Bay products.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

We'll do our best to accommodate dietary requirements where possible. Please let us know your requirements when requesting a table so we can determine whether we're able to cater safely.
Will there be vegetarian or gluten free options?

Yes. Gluten Free Beef Patties and Veggie Patties are available on request.

Is there a cost to attend?

No. This is a complimentary Angel Bay experience for successful registered guests.
Can I attend if I didn't register?

Unfortunately, not. Attendance is confirmed by booking only.
Is the venue accessible?

Yes. If you have accessibility requirements, please let us know when registering so we can ensure you have the best possible experience.
Will the event go ahead if it rains?

Yes. Real Life Restaurant by Angel Bay is an indoor event.
Can I bring my own food or drinks?

No. We'll have everything you need for the evening.
Will alcohol be available?

No this is an alcohol free event.
Can I take photos and videos?

Absolutely! We'd love you to share your experience. Tag @angelbaynz and use #RealLifeRestaurant.
Will my photos or videos be used by Angel Bay?

We may capture photography and video throughout the event for use across Angel Bay's marketing channels. If you'd prefer not to appear in any content, simply let a member of our team know when you arrive.
