frequently asked questions

Are frozen beef patties good quality?

Absolutely. At Angel Bay, we use premium New Zealand beef in our patties, then part-cook and snap-freeze them to lock in flavour, juiciness, and texture.

Freezing doesn’t mean compromise, it means consistency. You get the same great taste every time, with no waste and no pressure to use them all at once. Just grab what you need, when you need it.

Frozen patties also take the guesswork out of mealtimes. They’re ready when you are, and they cook up perfectly, straight from the freezer to the pan, oven, or BBQ.

What is the difference between gourmet beef burger patties and Angus patties?

Angel Bay Gourmet Beef Patties are seasoned for extra flavour and made with rehydrated onion for a bold, savoury taste. They have a soft, meaty texture and deliver a satisfying burger experience every time.

Our Premium Angus Beef Patties, on the other hand, are made with 76% Angus beef and real sautéed onion, offering a juicier bite and a more beef-forward flavour. They’re all about letting the quality of the Angus beef shine through.

Both are delicious.

What makes a good gourmet beef burger?
A great beef burger starts with a patty that’s juicy, well-seasoned, and holds its shape. Angel Bay Gourmet Beef Patties are designed to deliver that homestyle flavour consistently, then you can level it up with quality buns, fresh toppings, and sauces that match your vibe.
Are Angel Bay beef patties pre-cooked?
Yes, Angel Bay beef patties are part-cooked before freezing. That locks in flavour, helps them stay juicy, and means they cook faster. Straight from the freezer to the plate, no stress, no worries.
Can you cook beef burger patties from frozen?
Yes - Angel Bay Angus Beef burgers are designed to be cooked straight from frozen. Just remove from packaging, cook using your chosen method, and make sure they reach a centre temperature of 75°C (piping hot).
How do you know when your beef burger is cooked?
Your beef burger patties are cooked when they’re piping hot and reach a centre temperature of 75°C. If you don’t have a thermometer, make sure there’s no pink remaining in the middle and the juices run clear.
How long do frozen beef patties take to cook?
Because they’re part-cooked, Angel Bay frozen beef patties cook quickly. From frozen, they take about 13–15 minutes on a medium heat pan or BBQ, turning every 3–4 minutes.
Do beef burger patties shrink when cooked?
Angel Bay beef patties have minimal shrinkage compared to many raw patties because they’re part-cooked before freezing. That means a better bun fit and a more satisfying beef burger.
How long can you keep beef patties in the freezer for?
Keep Angel Bay beef patties frozen at -18°C and use by the best-before date on pack. Staying sealed and properly frozen helps protect flavour, texture, and quality.
What meals can you make with beef burger patties besides burgers?
Angel Bay beef patties are super versatile, slice them into wraps, crumble into tacos or nachos, serve with mash and gravy, add to rice bowls, or pair with salad for a quick high-protein meal. For meal inspiration, check out our recipes
